Frequently asked questions
Where is Alchemy Sports Therapy based?
We're based at Schoolhouse Gym in Ahoghill, just outside Ballymena, with free on-site parking and easy access from Ballymena and the surrounding areas.
Do I need to be an athlete to book a sports massage?
Not at all. Sports massage is for routine muscular tightness and recovery. If you have pain or an unresolved injury, choose an injury assessment first. As a qualified neuromuscular therapist I treat everyone, whatever your fitness level.
What's the difference between sports massage and physiotherapy?
Sports massage focuses on soft tissue. Alchemy offers neuromuscular therapy and injury rehabilitation; it is not advertised as a physiotherapy practice. If you need physiotherapy or medical assessment, contact the appropriate professional.
What is dry needling and does it hurt?
Dry needling may be used within a suitable treatment session. Sensation and response vary. Sapphire will discuss suitability, consent and alternatives with you before treatment.
Do I need a referral to book?
No referral needed - you can book directly online any time.
What happens in an injury assessment?
A full assessment of your movement, pain and history, followed by hands-on treatment and a clear plan to get you recovering. It's the best starting point if something's not right.
How often should I get a sports massage?
It depends on your goals and activity level - anywhere from a one-off treatment to regular maintenance. I'll advise what's right for you at your first session.
Do you offer personal training as well as therapy?
Yes. Alongside neuromuscular therapy I offer 1-1 personal training - built around your goals, experience and how you move. New coaching clients should contact Sapphire before booking.
What areas do you cover?
All sessions are at Schoolhouse Gym in Ahoghill, near Ballymena. Clients travelling from across Northern Ireland are welcome, including the surrounding towns of Cullybackey, Portglenone, Randalstown, Antrim and Ballymoney.
How do I book?
Book online any time through Booksy, or message me on WhatsApp and I'll help you find a time. Sessions are by appointment, with evening slots available.
Can a sports massage help with back pain?
Massage may help some muscular symptoms, but back pain has different causes. Book Injury Assessment & Treatment for pain or an unresolved problem so the next step can be discussed. Symptoms needing medical attention should be assessed by an appropriate healthcare professional.
How much is a sports massage in Ballymena?
Up-to-date prices for sports massage, dry needling and personal training are listed on my Booksy page, where you can also book online any time. Message me on WhatsApp if you're not sure which treatment you need.
Do you offer deep tissue massage?
Yes. Deep tissue massage is part of my sports massage treatment - ideal for tight muscles, built-up tension and stubborn knots. It's suitable whether you train regularly or just want relief from everyday aches.
